Telegram Ads Stars Cabinet: What It Is, How It Differs from EUR, and What tgadsspy Archives
Complete guide to Telegram's Stars-based ad cabinet — how it differs from the EUR cabinet, what creatives are eligible, pricing in Stars vs EUR, and how tgadsspy indexes both ad types. Updated for 2026.
What is the Telegram Stars Ad Cabinet#
Telegram has two distinct advertising systems. Most marketers know the EUR cabinet (sponsored messages in channels). The Stars cabinet is newer, less documented — and structurally different in ways that matter for ad buyers and researchers.
Key Differences#
| Feature | EUR Cabinet | Stars Cabinet |
|---|---|---|
| Currency | EUR (min ~€1.5 CPM) | Telegram Stars (1 Star ≈ $0.013) |
| Ad format | Sponsored message (channel feed) | In-app ads (bots, mini-apps) |
| Targeting | Channel language + topic | Bot/app user demographics |
| Min top-up | ~€2,000 | Stars-based, much lower entry |
| Self-serve | ads.telegram.org | via @AdsBot / Fragment.com |
| KYC required | Yes (business entity) | No (Stars purchasable with crypto) |
| Formal invoices | Yes (Telegram entity) | No |
How Telegram Ads Spy Identifies Stars vs EUR Ads#
Our indexing pipeline uses the gramesh API field can_report to distinguish cabinet type:
can_report: false→ EUR cabinet (Telegram's channel revenue-share program)can_report: true→ Stars (TON) cabinet — advertiser paid in Telegram Stars
This field is set at the sponsored-message level, letting us separate creative datasets by payment source. In our archive of 912 indexed creatives:
- ~78% are EUR cabinet creatives (regulated advertisers, global brands)
- ~22% are Stars cabinet creatives (crypto-native projects, bot developers, early-stage products)
This 22% is material. Stars-funded advertisers use Telegram channels in the same way EUR advertisers do — but they operate outside the €2,000 minimum and the formal KYC stack. That makes Stars the on-ramp for small crypto projects, scammy token promotions, and experimental products that would be filtered by the EUR cabinet's business verification.
What Kinds of Advertisers Use Stars#
Stars cabinet advertisers in our archive cluster into three categories:
1. Crypto-native projects — token launches, NFT collections, DeFi protocols that prefer paying in TON/Stars. Ideologically consistent with a crypto-native audience. No bank account or EU entity required.
2. Bot and mini-app developers — Telegram-native products promoting within the bot ecosystem. Stars placements appear inside bot interfaces, not just channel feeds.
3. Small-budget testers — advertisers with €200–500 budgets who can't meet the EUR cabinet's €2,000 minimum. Stars is the accessible entry point before scaling to EUR.
The practical implication for researchers: Stars advertisers skew younger, more experimental, and more crypto-native than EUR advertisers. EUR advertisers include regulated financial institutions; Stars advertisers rarely do.
How to Use Telegram Ads Spy to Research Stars-Funded Ads#
On /ads, filter by payment source to isolate Stars cabinet creatives. API endpoint:
GET /api/v1/ads?payment_source=STARS
Key use cases:
- Competitive research: see which crypto projects are buying Stars ads in your target channel category
- Risk screening: Stars ads face different content moderation than EUR ads — Stars-funded creatives appear more frequently in categories that would be blocked under EUR cabinet rules (early-stage token promotions, unregistered DeFi protocols)
- Creative intelligence: analyze what copy and CTA formats work in bot-native vs. channel-feed placements
When to Use Stars vs EUR for Ad Buyers#
EUR cabinet when you need:
- Broad reach across thousands of channels
- A compliant advertising environment (MiCA-registered exchange, licensed broker)
- Formal invoices and documented ad spend for accounting
Stars cabinet when you need:
- Crypto-native product promotion without KYC friction
- Sub-€2,000 budget testing before committing to EUR minimum
- In-product placement inside Telegram bots or mini-apps
